Purpose of Journal
The Froebel Ireland Journal of Child-Centred Education
The Froebel Journal of Child-Centred Education, published by the Froebel College of Education, Dublin Ireland, is a refereed journal that disseminates information on all aspects of child-centred, progressive practice as it relates to early childhood, mainstream or special education. The journal is a new publication that plans to launch its first annual issue in April 2002. Articles concerning research, historical issues, literature reviews, and theoretical papers are welcome. The journal hopes to create a forum for researchers and practitioners to share ideas and information, to stimulate reflection and debate on all aspects of child-centred practice including methodology, research design, ethical and philosophical issues, history, and comparative practice with an international perspective. Our audience is multi-national and multi-disciplinary. Submissions from previously unpublished authors are especially welcome. Authors are invited to submit articles of a scholarly nature. The journal hopes to publish twice annually commencing in 2004.
The journal also accepts reviews of recent publications about primary, early childhood, and mainstream (inclusive) special education. Book reviews should be 8-10 double-spaced pages. The journal will consider publishing essay reviews, in which the author analyses one or more books with a similar focus and discusses the implications for future practice or research. These essays should range from 15-20 pages.
